When it comes to architecture basic VoIP information, things can get pretty complex. However, for the basic home or business user, the setup is quite basic and simple to understand. VoIP stands for Voice Over Internet Protocol and it is exactly what it sounds like. When you use this service your voice is made into a digital signal which is transmitted via the Internet to the receiver. To use VoIP, you need broadband Internet access and a provider who offers this service.
Many people use this service right at their home computers. You can hook up a simple microphone such as one with a USB plug into your computer, and use your computer's speakers to hear who you're talking to. Or, you can try an even more convenient method which is headphones which come with not only the earphones but a mouthpiece as well. Many people like wireless models which let you talk without being confined to your desk. There are even special phones as well as phone adapters which can allow you to use your VoIP service anywhere you choose that has wireless access. Examples might include airports, cafes, libraries, parks and campgrounds.
There are lots of different providers out there who offer VoIP service. Vonage is one of the most recognizable names in the business, with national television commercials and distinctive theme music. They live up to their reputation as a leading provider of this service by offering lots of affordable packages to meet every residential and business calling need. They also offer devices and accessories such as phones, phone systems, adapters and more to make sure you can connect in the easiest, most convenient way possible.
Of course, the big names like Vonage aren't the only choices you have when it comes to Voice Over Internet Protocol. There are smaller businesses that also offer fantastic plans and great benefits, including Joi Phone. Joi Phone not only has cheap residential and business calling plans, but a lucrative referral program. For every friend or family member you refer, you and the person you referred get a $15 to your account. You could cover your monthly calls and then some using this program!
